To the north of the City of Vancouver, the West Vancouver School District covers students living within West Vancouver as well as Bowen Island and Lions Bay.  With a total of 15 schools, the district consists of 12 primary and elementary schools as well as three secondary schools.  This vast district to the north of Burrard Inlet covers a great deal of land along the coastal areas.

Students within the West Vancouver School District typically rank highly in academics, the arts and athletics.  With the largest percentage of academic scholarship winners in the area, about one-quarter of all graduates receive provincial scholarships.  An outstanding 97 percent of 12th graders receive a diploma.  As well, the district boasts the highest percentage of fourth through seventh graders in British Columbia who either meet or exceed expectations in reading, mathematics and writing assessments.

The West Vancouver School District frequently fosters the growth of community service among its students, as well as the arts.  A large community theatre, Kay Meek Centre, is available to use in teaching students, as well as expanding performance arts opportunities.  In addition, the district offers a number of sports academies, including tennis, hockey, basketball and baseball, among others.
