North Vancouver School CatchmentS

Just over the Burrard Inlet, lies the City of North Vancouver and the School District of North Vancouver.  With a total of 27 elementary schools, as well as six secondary schools, the North Vancouver School District also includes an outdoor education centre and an alternative school.  The elementary schools are divided into primary schools for students up to third grade and intermediate schools for students ranging from fourth through seventh grades.

Stretching from West Vancouver to the Indian Arm, this large district serves nearly 16,000 students, ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as hundreds of early learners.  In addition, the regionally diverse district commonly attracts international students.

With several nationally recognized programs, the district also offers support services for students who need additional learning opportunities.  While most of the schools are English-taught, there are a handful of French immersion programs in a few select schools.  Other unique offerings include Aboriginal education within a vast district covering both mountains and beaches.

Required classes for graduation include social studies, math, science, fine arts, applied skills, language arts and PE courses.  Students within this school district commonly do well on reading and writing assessments as well as mathematics and examinations for provincial scholarships.
